A 19-year-old boy, identified as Sunday Moses, has been found dead in Afio village in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Moses’ lifeless body was discovered hanging from a tree in a secluded, rocky part of the village. Reports indicate that the secondary school graduate had informed his 47-year-old brother that he was heading out to find a better network signal to make a phone call before the tragic incident occurred.
Confirming the incident on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, revealed that the deceased’s brother, John Egbe, found him dead after searching for him for several hours when he failed to return home.
Police investigations also uncovered that Moses had recently lost his mother, who had yet to be buried in their hometown in Oju Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to Odutola, “The deceased left his home in Ogungbade Village early on 10 February 2025, in search of better network service. When he did not return, his elder brother, John Egbe, 47, became worried and traced his steps, only to make the devastating discovery.”
Following the report, detectives were deployed to the scene, where photographs were taken, and preliminary investigations commenced. The police have since released the body to the family for burial in line with their traditional rites, while investigations into the incident continue.
