Nigeria’s D’Tigers rekindled their dream of reaching the 2023 FIBA men’s Basketball World Cup finals with a convincing win over Guinea at the Palais des Sports, Treichville, Abidjan on Saturday.
D’Tigers defeated Guinea 89-70 points on Match Day 2 to resurrect their World Cup dream after the loss to host Cote D’Ivoire.
The first quarter ended 24-15 while the second quarter finished 20-20. D’Tigers came back forcefully to take the third quarter 32-15 before dropping the final quarter 13-20.
Host Cote D’Ivoire are the only team yet to feel the pain of defeat since the qualifiers started in November last year.
The Ivorien took Uganda to the cleaners by 91-80 points. Earlier in the group, Angola knocked down Cape Verde 65-58.
In group F based in Monastir, Tunisia. Egypt see off Cameroon 86-74 to stay on top of the log.
South Sudan that suffered their first loss in the qualifiers on Friday drowned DR Congo 101-58, which is the biggest score line in Window 4.
Senegal sinks Tunisia 73-63 to relaunch the World Cup qualifiers campaign.
Later today in group E, D’Tigers have a must-win game against Angola while Cote D’Ivoire will seek to kill off the dream of Cape Verde in the last outing of Window 4 in Abidjan.
The massive game in group F is the tie between Egypt and South Sudan. Both teams have lost only once in the qualifiers so far.
