THE Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has revealed plans for the Super Falcons to face a “Grade A” national team and hold a two-week camping exercise in Australia ahead of this summer’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The plans were part of several resolutions reached on Monday during the meeting of the federation’s board in Abuja.
The Super Falcons will be based in Australia during the group phase of the tournament which kicks off on 20 July. An early training camp in the country would allow the nine-time African champions to fully adapt to local conditions ahead of their campaign.
The NFF board also expressed satisfaction with the team’s current run which has seen them claim victories in their last three games.
The Super Falcons, an ever-present at all FIFA Women’s World Cup, beat Costa Rica at the Revelation Cup in Mexico last February and saw off World Cup co-hosts New Zealand and World Cup-bound Haiti in Turkey during their last training camp this month.
Nigeria will face co-hosts Australia, Olympic champions Canada and newbies the Republic of Ireland in Group B of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
