There is a high-level meeting ongoing between the presidential candidates of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi and that of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Eighteen-Eleven Media can authoritatively report.
Both men, believed to have the biggest grassroots movement currently across the country, are reportedly engaged in discussion on some kind of an alliance between their parties which will lead to running on the same ticket in the election slated for next year.
There has been a passionate appeal from some well-meaning Nigerians on Alhaji Kwankwaso to consider a joint ticket with Mr Obi. Both men were members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before they both parted ways with the party to pursue their respective ambitions.
Our correspondent gathered that although meetings are ongoing, no concrete headway has been achieved yet. A source however said, “something might come up before the 17 June 2023 deadline for the submission of names of vice presidential candidates of the various political parties”.
If the alliance goes through, it may result in the biggest social revolution in Nigeria. Already both politicians and their parties are beloved to be gaining momentum in their various strongholds.
Kwankwaso is believed to have a water-tight track record of performance and accountability like Obi. He is a force up North, particularly in Kano State
