TECHNICAL Adviser of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote, is optimistic about his team’s improvement as the season goes on.
The sweat merchant, in his post-match interview after his side held visiting Plateau United to a 1-1 draw on Sunday, pleaded for patience from the supporters and fans of the club.
The former Remo Stars’ gaffer blamed his team’s inability to pick the maximum points in the Matchday two fixture on the newness of most of the players and the anxiety to impress.
“Today’s game is just quite an unfortunate match. We had a lot of difficulties in terms of anxiety and all the rest of it.
“If you look at the team, it is more or less a relatively new team and we are just trying to get ourselves, playing on the field for the first time, trying to impress our supporters”.
Speaking further, the tactician said. “Synergy in a team does not come overnight. We want to appeal for the patience and understanding of our fans. In no time, the understanding in the team will be there“, added the Oracle, as the coach is fondly called.
On why the team recruited several new players, the former Rangers International handler explained that such became necessary after about seven of the 19 players retained from last season’s squad, left.
“Last season, we retained 19 players, believing that all of them would be with us, unfortunately, we lost some of them”.
