KANO State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered the state Commissioner of Police to immediately arrest the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.

The governor gave the order in a statement on Saturday morning issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

According to the statement, Yusuf accused Ado Bayero of creating tension in the state following his return on Saturday morning.

The statement reads: “The former Emir was smuggled into Kano city last night in an attempt to forcefully return to the palace two days after being deposed by the governor.

“As the Chief Security Officer of the state, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has directed the Commissioner of Police to arrest the deposed Emir with immediate effect for disturbing public peace and attempting to destroy the relative peace the state enjoys.”

The dethroned Emir reportedly returned to the ancient city in the early hours of today. into the waiting hands of a hordes of supporters at the airport.

It was learned that the whereabouts of the monarch had been unknown since he was deposed by the state government on Thursday.

However, the aircraft conveying the monarch touched down at the Aminu Kano International Airport at 4:30am today.

He was immediately besieged by his supporters, who were chanting a verse from Surah Al-Fatihah in the Holy Quran.

The return of the deposed monarch has in the meantime caused tension in the city as Sanusi Lamido Sanusi is already in the palace.

As his convoy of the deposed Emir traversed through the bustling streets of Kano, crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of Bayero and greeted him with enthusiasm.

Speculations are rife about the return of Bayero and its implications for the intricate tapestry of power in Kano.

Earlier, the reinstated Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, made a triumphant return to the Emir’s Palace.

He was accompanied by Governor Abba Yusuf, Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam, and several government officials.

The deposed Emir Ado Bayero was reportedly lodged at the Nasarawa Emir Guest House which is adjacent to the Ministry of Works, while Governor Abba and his deputy remained at the Emir’s palace after escorting the reappointed Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II back to the palace.

A video clip circulating on social media shows Aminu Abdussalam, the state deputy governor speaking angrily, saying, “We are ready for them hence they want to bring chaos to Kano by their illegal actions of returning the deposed Emir Aminu Ado Bayero”.

We are here, we are not going anywhere, because we understand that the NSA under the orders of Ganduje has brought back the deposed Emir with heavy security trying to bring him into the palace; we will not allow that to happen,” he alleged.

“The state Assembly deliberated for three days on the Emirate Council Law and repealed it, and all the 40 members of the Legislative Chamber were there, so I don’t understand what the NSA and Ganduje want,” he further alleged.

It was further gathered that two private jets were used to bring back the deposed Emir Ado Bayero to Kano in the early hours of today in an attempt to reinstate him, while the governor and his cabinet members have already taken over the Emir’s palace in anticipation of any unforeseen circumstance.
