MEN of the Lagos State funded Rapid Response Squad (RRS) on Tuesday, at about 9:00 a.m apprehended .46-years-old Adepoju Alaba in the Anthony area of the state while trying to dispossess a motorist of his mobile phone, wallet and international passport.
The car of the complainant reportedly broke down in the area while he was on his way to the international Airport with his wife. Adepoju and an accomplice, (now at large), while pretending to offer assistance to the man, tried to dispossess him of his valuables.
The motorist, on sighting RRS operatives who were said to be on a distress call to Mile 2, flagged them down. One of the suspects was arrested while the other escaped.
The operatives assisted the motorist and his wife to repair their vehicle and ensured they proceeded on their journey before heading to Mile 2.
According to the RRS, the suspect has confessed and pleaded for leniency. He has however been charged in court.
