Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, J.P has donated sets of jerseys to the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) national teams.
The donation and presentation were made in Ilorin, Kwara State, central Nigeria during the final of the 19th edition of the Chief of the Naval Staff U-14 Boys and NOWA U-17 Girls soccer tournament.
The event was witnessed by national officers of YSFON, sports and football stakeholders as well as the teeming youths who graced the grand finale of the competition.
The gesture is one of the ways to motivate and encourage the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria, (YSFON), not to relent in its quest to develop youth sports in the country.
In his remark, Ejidike reiterated his interest in youth development through sports which had been the thrust of YSFON; hence, his decision to motivate the body with the donation of new sets of jerseys.
Ejidike, who went down memory lane, explained how YSFON team won the first U-17 World Cup for Nigeria in 1985 and till today, has been producing great players through various age grade competitions.
YSFON, according to Chief Ejidikez should be supported as the leadership of the body are committed and have grassroots experience in sports administration.
Receiving the jerseys on behalf of the National YSFON, the General Secretary, Patrick Opakure praised Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike for his continuous support and contributions to sports promotion and youth development in Nigeria.
He noted that there are records showing how Ejidike has been sponsoring competitions and partnerships with YSFON which is also reflected in his donation of jerseys for YSFON national teams.
The Chairman, Office of Nigeria Pillar of Sports, Prince Olayioye Ajide also talked about their commitment to do more for YSFON as more youth competitions shall be held across the Federation.
