The darling Lagos-based football club, MFM Football Club has been disbanded.
The club owned by the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) was relegated to the second-tier Nigeria National League (NNL) after the 2021/2022 session.
Eighteen-Eleven Media reports that the action of the owners of the club may not be unconnected with allegations that some players of the club collected money to fix the outcome of a Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match involving Lobi Stars of Makurdi.
It will be recalled that Dr D.K Olukoya had in February dissolved the club’s board and sacked its technical crew following their dismal performance in the 2021/2022 NPFL season.
Dr Olukoya announced the termination of the whole technical crew of the squad just before the start of their matchday 11 against champions Akwa United.
Aside from dismissing the technical staff, the club board was also disbanded, much to the delight of their fans and supporters.
Meanwhile, an unconfirmed report says the disbandment may also affect the basketball team.
