PRESIDENT Bola AhmedTinubu has approved the appointment of the former governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
This is coming less than 24 hours after approving the appointment of the outgoing Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, as his Chief of Staff (CoS).

The appointments were confirmed by the presidency in a statement signed by its Director of Information, Abiodun Oladunjoye, and made available to newsmen on Friday, 2nd June
According to the statement, Tinubu also picked a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Ibrahim Hadejia, as his Deputy Chief of Staff (DCoS).
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Friday, in Abuja announced the appointment of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, as his Chief of Staff, and Senator Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as his Deputy Chief of Staff.
“In a meeting with the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), the President also named former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF)”, the statement reads.
The appointments came after the President evaluated all former governors, lawmakers and party executives jostling to occupy the aforementioned seats.
