THE Teranga Lionesses Senegal will take on Nigeria’s D’Tigress in what could be described as a remake of the 2017 and 2019 finals.
There were tears of joy as Senegal clinched the last ticket to the 2023 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket Finals after a hard-fought 75-65 win over Mali on Thursday.
The win completes the Teranga Lionesses’ bounce back from a very slow start to their campaign.
The Senegalese are headed to the Championship Game on the back of a three-game winning streak after dropping their first two games to Uganda and Mali.
D’Tigress had earlier in the day defeated host, Rwanda 79-48 in the first semi-final pairing. If the Nigerian triumph against their West African neighbours in the final, it will be their four consecutive championship victories in the competition.
