BARELY 24 hours after one of the three senators from Kogi State was sacked by the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State, another senator from the state has gotten the boot courtesy of the same tribunal.
The tribunal chaired by Justice K.A. Orjiako earlier today declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the 25 February Kogi Central Senatorial election.
Justice Orjiako in his lead judgment on Wednesday 6th September said Uduaghan scored 54,064 votes to defeat his closest rival Sadiku-Ohere who polled 51,291 votes.
He urged Sadiku-Ohere to pay Akpoti-Uduaghan N500,000 for the cost of the petition.
Sadiku-Ohere is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the election.
On Tuesday, the same tribunal sacked Sen. Jibrin Isah, the Senate Committee Chairman on Customs, Excise, and Tariffs, on the grounds that elections were cancelled in some 94 polling units.
The tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a supplementary election in the affected 94 polling units.
