THE Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) scheduled to kick off on 9 September has been postponed yet again, this time, no new date has been fixed.
A release by the Director of Operations, Interim Management Committee (IMC), Davidson Owumi, says: “The Board of Directors of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) wishes to inform you that the scheduled kick-off of the 2023/24 season has been suspended and a new date will be communicated to you. This is due to the League’s sponsorship requirements,” states the body.
The NPFL’s Director of Operations, Davidson Owumi, explained that the decision to postpone the start of the season had been taken following extensive consultations with various stakeholders. This is the second postponement after the original opening date of 26 August
This situation is not without consequences for the clubs, who began their preparations a long time ago.
Enyimba were scheduled to face Bendel Insurance in the opening match of the 2023/24 NPFL season.
