Following reports of a planned protest in Maiduguri, as a result of another alleged blasphemous statement made by a lady living in the Borno State capital on her Facebook page, the Nigerian Army, Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) are set to embark on a show of force today (Sunday).
The military and other security agencies are said to have deployed and are on the alert to avert possible crises.

Islamists were reported to have openly threatened Naomi Goni for posting what they considered blasphemy against the Islamic religion and Prophet Muhammad. (See attachment)
Only last Thursday, a 200-Level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Deborah Samuel was stoned to death and thereafter her body burnt to aches for allegedly defaming the name of Prophet Muhammed.
The action has reportedly caused an uproar as some youths on Saturday protested the arrest of some perpetrators of the act considered barbaric in some quarters.
