THE Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, has upheld the decision of the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal which had earlier declared Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the election conducted in Kogi Central Senatorial District on 25th February 2023.
The court dismissed the appeal filed by Abubakar Sadiku-Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for lacking in merit.

In a judgment delivered a few minutes ago, the panel of three justices upheld the decision of the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal which had earlier nullified Sadiku-Ohere’s victory and declared Akpoti-Uduagan as the winner of the 25 February senatorial election.
Eighteen-Eleven Media recalls that on 6 September 2023, the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lokoja, Kogi State, sacked Dadiku-Ohere. The tribunal chaired by Justice K.A. Orjiako held that Akpoti-Uduaghan scored 54,064 votes to defeat his closest rival Sadiku-Ohere who polled 51,291 votes.
He directed Sadiku-Ohere to pay Akpoti-Uduaghan N500,000 for the cost of the petition.
Also, on Tuesday, 5th September, the same tribunal sacked Sen. Jibrin Isah, the Senate Committee Chairman on Customs, Excise, and Tariffs, on the grounds that elections were cancelled in some 94 polling units.
The tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct a supplementary election in the affected 94 polling units.
