NIGERIAN chef, Temitope Adebayo, (better known as Tope Maggie) has surpassed the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, surpassing Irish chef, Alan Fisher’s 119-hour and 57-minute record.
The Guinness World Records (GWR) committee said Tuesday 7 November that Fisher “cooked for an incredible 119 hours and 57 minutes at his restaurant in Japan,” breaking the record set in May by Bassey.
However Chef Maggie concluded a 200-hour cook-a-thon in the early hours of Saturday, 18 November.
This was announced in a video posted on the Oyo Affairs X page.
The video was captioned: ‘Congratulations to Chef Tope Maggie and his team for completing a 200-hour Cook-A-Thon, which came to an end at exactly 3 am this morning.’
The cook-a-thon reportedly started on Thursday evening and ended on Saturday morning.
Tope is awaiting confirmation of his record by the GWR as congratulations and celebration continue over his feat.
Chef Hilda Baci was recently dethroned by Irish Chef Fisher.
