GOVERNOR Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has approved the redeployment of the General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Bolaji Oreagba, and his replacement with Olalekan Bakare-Oki in an acting capacity.
The decision of the governor is contained in a statement released Thursday and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Olawale Musa.
The Permanent Secretary cited better performance, eradicating incidences of misdemeanours among staff, and improving efficient and effective traffic management across the Lagos metropolis as the reasons behind the leadership change.

Meanwhile, Mr Musa has urged the new appointee to justify Mr Governor’s confidence in him by rising to the occasion by bringing his wealth of experience to take the Agency to greater heights.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also appreciated the contributions of the former GM for his commitment, dedication, and meritorious service to the state.
Bakare-Oki joined the Lagos State Public Service on 25 April 2000, and rose through the ranks over the years to the post of Deputy Director, Logistics and Engineering Department of LASTMA, before his new appointment as General Manager.
He holds a Master’s Degree in Transportation Planning and Management from the University of Lagos and has attended several capacity-building programmes on inter-modal traffic management systems locally and internationally.
Eighteen-Eleven Media reports that Mr Bolaji Oreagba joined the State Public Service on the 8th of December 1993, where he worked with the Lagos State Government’s Traffic outfit; the Traffic Management Unit (TMU) and Traffic Management System (TMS) when the Ministry was then called Ministry of Works and Transport and later Ministry of Public Transportation. On the establishment of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) under the administration of the then, Lagos State Governor; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the year 2000, Mr Oreagba Bolaji, was among the pioneer members of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) who built the zonal structure from three (3) zones under the pioneer General Manager; Engineer Adegboyega Coker to the existing Forty-Three (43) zones and BRT command.
On the 14th of September 2021, he was appointed as the substantive General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) by Mr Governor.
His headship of the organisation was however dogged by cases of professional misconduct on the part of staff members which had led to strident calls by Lagos residents for the scrapping of the organisation.
