LAGOS State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has pledged One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) each to members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members that just passed out in the state.
Sanwo-Olu made the commitment as a special guest of honour at the NYSC Passing-Out Parade/Closing Ceremony of 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Corps Members at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Iyana Ipaja earlier today, Tuesday.16 July 2024.
According to the governor, the sum of N100,000 for each NYSC member passing out today will be delivered next week directly to their accounts.He also promised automatic employment into the Lagos Public Service for the best 100 Corpers after the service year (for 2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream I only)
He similarly pledged to give the sum of N5 billion for the construction of the permanent site of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC ) Orientation Camp in the state.
He further announced N100 million to the Scheme’s support staff and donated a 32-seater Hyundai bus.
The NYSC is a mandatory, post-tertiary scheme set up by the Nigerian government during the military regime of Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, to “reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the country after the Nigerian Civil War”.
They are currently placed on N33,000 allowance which is usually adjusted after the increment of national minimum wage.
