MOBILE teleommunications giant, MTN, today 30th of July 2024 announced an indefinite closure of all its offices across the country.
A notice which simply reads: “Please be informed that our shops nationwide will be closed today, 30th July”, did not give any reason for the action or when it hopes to reopen for business. However, the action may not be unconnected with the planned nationwide protests under the aegis of #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria.
A number of youth groups have indicated that they will be embarking on nationwide protests to register their displeasure with the parlous state of the Nigerian economy under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The decision has understandably heightened tension across the country with officials appealing for understanding.
