The Lagos State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Olusegun Ogungbemide has commended the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola on the level and pace of work on the ongoing construction along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
He made this statement as part of the entourage of the Honorable Minister who carried out an on-spot inspection of the ongoing project on Friday 17th June 2022.
Mr Ogungbemide noted that when completed the 1,048km road will improve travelling time and driving experience along the international route corridor. ” The road will boost economic activities with neighbouring countries when completed”, a statement by Route Commander Olabisi Sonusi, the FRSC Public Education Officer, quotes the sector commander as saying.
Meanwhile, Mr Fashola has pointed out that the early 2023 target for completion of the highway is contingent on factors including weather, traffic management and cooperation of the communities. He called for patience and cooperation from members of the communities along the construction corridor.
Ogungbemide has howevet directed all Commands along the corridor to up their enforcement in protecting lives and property, especially on the already completed portion of the road that is now prone to excessive speeding. He, therefore, urged motorists plying the corridor to drive with caution and prevent avoidable crashes.
