A popular Nollywood actor and movie producer, Yusuf Olorungbede, is dead.
Yusuf’s death was announced on Wednesday morning by popular actress Foluke Daramola via Instagram.
“We lost YUSUF OLORUNGBEBE. We submit to God’s will. Thank you, everyone!” she wrote.
Earlier, the younger brother of the late actor, Oladimeji Peter, who confirmed the development in a post on his verified Facebook on Tuesday night, penned an emotional tribute to the deceased actor.
He wrote, “It sad to hear you are gone, as an actor you gave me courage, you are the first director that will invite me to a movie location and pay me, not just that alone, my feeding and personal accommodation were settled without stress, how will I write up my stories in this industry and slide your name EGBON?? Ko possible through you I met a lot, and I learnt so much from you. Good night boss man. Yusuf Olorungbebe.”
This heartbreaking news comes just days after Nollywood actress, Sharon Okpamen passed away nearly one month after giving birth to her second child.
Olorungbebe had been in critical condition due to his chronic ailment for several months. He had appealed to Nigerians, the government, and his fellow actors for financial assistance, stating that he needed millions of Naira to aid his recovery.
Just days before his passing, Daramola had urged benevolent Nigerians to rally around and provide financial support for the veteran actor due to his deteriorating health.
“I’m here again to plead on behalf of my esteemed colleague and production manager, Mr. Yusuf Olorungbebe. This is his current state as of today—he is on life support. Please, no amount is too small to help him survive. Your support will go a long way in assisting us. Thank you so much, everyone,” she wrote.
