ODION Ighalo has urged fellow Nigerians to support and not add to the pains of Victor Osimhen at a time when his career is at a crossroads.
Osimhen was a direct replacement for Ighalo in the Super Eagles and the veteran striker said he has been disappointed with some of the comments he has come across against the Napoli striker at this time.
However, he said he believes Osimhen will bounce back as a stronger person and player
He wrote on X (formerly Twitter) thus:
“No human being is perfect and we have all made mistakes in life, but seeing comments about this young man from his own country people makes me really sad, without even knowing what happened,
“I spoke to him and I can feel the pain in his voice, the way he’s been treated, this young man plays with heart and pain for his country, Hmmm it’s well, he will definitely be back stronger, we learn every day in life, Happy New Month to y’all🤍🙏🏾”
His club, Napoli, whom he has a contract with until June 2026, has not registered him for the new season, and should he not eventually move in this transfer window, he will train with the U19s.
Coach Antonio Conte said that is the decision of the club and there’s no going back.
Some Nigerians appear not to have forgiven the gangling striker over his outburst against Coach Finidi George, Super Eagles gaffer. Osimhen was uncharitable in his reaction to an alleged indictment by Coach George as one of the reasons the Eagles performed below par in recent World Cup qualification matches.
