Yet to be confirmed report suggests that Police authority may have arrested one of the suspects involved in kidnapping the Prelate of the Methodist Church, Owerri Diocese, His Eminence Dr Kalu Samuel Uche
According to a report made available to Eighteen-Eleven Media, the suspect was nabbed at a bank where he went to deposit his share of the ransom fee of about Twenty Million Naira (N20,000, 000.00) only.
The suspect is said to be from the same village where the Methodist Prelate hails from. According to the source, the suspect has also implicated two soldiers who have now been transferred to Abuja for further investigation.
Recall that on 29th May the cleric and two other top church officials, namely the Bishop of Methodist Church, Owerri Diocese and the Prelate’s chaplain, were kidnapped along the Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State.
They were released 24 hours later after payment of One Hundred Million Naira ransom.
The Prelate had while speaking on his ordeal am shortly after his release alleged that soldiers posted to the East carried out the act. He also alleged that the perpetrators were from the Northern part of the country going by the language they spoke.
The Army is yet to respond to inquiries on the report.
