DANGOTE Petroleum Refinery has clarified that the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Limited) has not started lifting fuel from its facility, as contract negotiations are still ongoing.
Anthony Chiejina, Dangote Group’s Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, stated on Thursday that the refinery cannot set petrol prices template due to sector regulations. He refuted media reports claiming that NNPC Limited has begun lifting petrol, emphasizing that such reports are misleading.
“We want to make it clear that NNPC Limited has not started lifting Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) from our refinery,” Chiejina said. “Until we finalise our contract with NNPC Limited, we cannot address petrol pricing, which is regulated by government authorities.”
Chiejina reassured the public that Dangote Petroleum Refinery will provide high-quality products nationwide.
Meanwhile, NNPC Limited has announced that it will deliver over 17.6 million barrels of crude oil to Dangote Refinery between September and October. Adedapo Segun, NNPC’s Executive Vice-President, Downstream, revealed on Thursday that this delivery was part of the federal government’s strategy to boost local petroleum production.
“We have already supplied about 30 million barrels to Dangote, including 6.3 million this month and 11.3 million in October,” Segun said.
