THE Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 54-year-old man who reportedly took his own life in the Agege area.
The incident, which occurred around 8 p.m. on Sunday, 15 September has shocked the local community.
According to SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin’s elder brother alerted the Elere Police Station after discovering the body. Benjamin was found hanging in the store of their residence.
Police officers promptly arrived at the scene, where they confirmed the deceased had no visible signs of violence. The body was initially taken to Orile-Agege General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
It has since been moved to Mainland Hospital in Yaba for a thorough autopsy.
SP Hundeyin stated, “The investigation into the incident is ongoing, and our detectives are working to uncover more details.”
In a related development, a 65-year-old blind man, along with his teenage children aged 14 and 12, was rescued from an attempted suicide on the Third Mainland Bridge.
The man, facing severe hardship, had hoped to end his life, believing that his children would be cared for by the government after his death.
