POPULAR stand-up comedians, Ayodeji Richard Makun (popularly known as AY) and Bright Okpocha (popularly known as Basketmouth)
have finally ended their close to two decades feud.
The two accomplished entertainers have been in the news over their lingering feud, with both men levelling different allegations against each other.
The duo surprised fans on Wednesday when they shared a collaborative skit on Instagram to promote their respective upcoming films.
In the skit, Basketmouth seeks advice from AY following a conversation with veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD).
This marks their first collaboration since 2006, the year their disagreement reportedly began. The fallout, which spanned over 18 years, was fueled by a financial dispute. AY had previously claimed that Basketmouth owed him payment for a gig in the early days of his career.
In a March 2023 interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, AY recounted the incident, stating that Basketmouth had arranged for him to perform at a comedy show. Despite the event organisers having paid Basketmouth N30,000, AY alleged that the money was never passed on to him.
Basketmouth, however, chose not to directly address the allegation, stating that he preferred not to engage with AY and wished to never speak with him again.
As the pair seemingly put their differences behind them, Basketmouth’s new movie, “A Ghetto Love Story,” is set to premiere on 22 November, while AY’s film “The Waiter” will hit theatres on 20 December.
After the clip made the rounds online, many Nigerians, including fellow celebrities and colleagues, trooped to the comment section of the post to express their joy over the reunion.
A netizen identified as @iamnasboi wrote: “Thank you, masters! For letting love lead.”
Another internet user, @mizvick said: “What God cannot do does not exist.”
@official_anthony_jay added: “Those wey dey carry other people’s issues for head, how far? Una go get sense now or make we wait till next year?”
@olainglis said: “I was having a stressful day at work until I saw this. Love the reconciliation. It’s amazing. I can’t stop laughing. Thanks for the smile you put on people’s faces.”
While fellow comedian, Igodye wrote: “There’s nothing we can use to compare peace and the price of keeping it.”
