A businessman based in the United States of America, Mr Segun Imonide, has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) to urgently investigate alleged harassment and threat to public peace at the Ipaja area by a Police officer.
In a Save Our Soul message sent to the Police boss dated 25 September 2024, Imonide urged the IGP to direct the AIGP, the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, to urgently swing into action before there is a breakdown of law and order in the Ipaja the area.
Mr Jude Mbisike, the Principal Partner of Broadline Chambers, in a petition written on behalf of Mr Monday Alpha, who is representing Imonide, alleged that a Superintendent of Police (SP), Joel Ugowe, is harassing and threatening the life of his client.
He said that sometime in March 2022, Imonide was introduced to the vast expanse of landed property slated for sale, located at Baruwa Ipaja, Lagos State, owned by Mr. Olaniyan, who is based in Canada but detailed Ronke Adekoya to act on his behalf.
“Having inspected the landed property, our client developed an interest in buying it and negotiated its cost implication to the sum of N7 million, and our client paid for it with a receipt duly issued to him and possession was taken without any encumbrances whatsoever.”
The petitioner said he was, however, surprised when he wanted to commence construction work on the said property that he discovered that someone had started erecting a structure therein.
He said upon inquiry, he was informed that, it was one Prince Tunde (a.k.a Baba Bukky) and that his client reported the matter at Area ‘P’ Command, Ipaja where Prince Tunde and his workers were apprehended for questioning,
According to him, “Our client was surprised when he was told at Area ‘P’ Command, Ipaja, that one SP Joel Ugowe had called them that the property in question belongs to him and asked them to release all the suspects apprehended to his office for further investigation.
” Ugowe released the suspects and asked them to continue construction work on our client’s legitimate property, hence our client feels cheated and apprehensive because of the strict warning issued to him by SP Ugowe and cohorts, never to dare step his or his representative’s feet on the property again if he wants to continue living on this planet. Thus, our client senses conspiracy to defraud in this matter and hereby requests for your kind and timely intervention into the above information.”
He, therefore, called on AIGP to investigate and use every measure permitted by law to apprehend the people for investigation, interrogation and prosecute accordingly.
