RIVERS State governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara today Tuesday sworn in the 23 newly elected council chairmen.
The Bauchi State governor, Bala Muhammed, who doubles as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, was in attendance at the swearing-in ceremony.
A statement issued earlier in the day signed by Secretary to the State Government, Dr Tammy Wenike Danagogo, had informed that the swearing ceremony would take place at Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, by 4 pm.
The circular directed that the newly elected Chairmen, along with one (1) guest each, are expected to be seated by 3:30 pm.
Eighteen-Eleven Media reports that Justice Adolphus Enebeli, the Chief Election Officer of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), yesterday declared that candidates of the Action People’s Party (APP) won 22 chairmanship positions out of 23 in the local government election conducted in the state same day.
He said the announcement of a winner was suspended in the Etche Local Government Area because the collation of results was still ongoing.
According to him, the results for Etche LGA will be declared alongside that of the 319 councillorship seats at a later date. The candidate of Action Alliance (AA) was later declared the winner of the poll in the local government.
