DISASTER struck the Solid Miners on the 2024-25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match-day 15 game as they surrendered a 1-2 lead to suffer a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat to hosts, Heartland FC, at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, Imo State, on Sunday evening.
Promise Anyanwu had put the home side in the lead in the 15th minute before Anas Yusuf drew United on level terms at the stroke of half-time with a left-footed curly ball.
The match seemed all but won by the Solid Miners when substitute, Garba Abubakar put United in the driver’s seat in the 85th minute, but the Nazi Millionaires staged a stunning comeback, scoring two goals in quick succession courtesy of Suraj Lawal in the 88th minute and Christian Moloku in the third minute of additional time, to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, a tough pill to swallow for the Coach Kabir Dogo-led wards.
The defeat means Nasarawa United remain at the bottom of the table and will need to regroup and refocus ahead of their North-Central derby clash against neighbours Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi at the Lafia City Stadium on Sunday, 8th December 2024, by 4 pm.
