THE Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has been removed from office over allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office.
The removal came days after it was reported that N43.5 billion was withdrawn from the Assembly account for backup vehicles for lawmakers, as well as other controversial activities.
Sources say Obasa was in Atlanta, USA when he was impeached. Obasa, 52, was first elected Speaker on June 8, 2015, resuming office alongside former one-term governor Akinwunmi Ambode.
Deputy Speaker, Hon Lasbat Meranda has been elected to replace him.
The Deputy Chief Whip, Hon Fatai Mojeed is elected as the Deputy Speaker.
