A Lagos Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Tuesday (today) remanded a man, Shuaibu Olufowobi for allegedly raping a 35-year-old woman (name withheld).
Justice Rahman Oshodi remanded Olufowobi, following his arraignment and his not-guilty plea to the five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, rape, sexual assault by penetration, sexual harassment and assault.
Justice Oshodi adjourned the case till 6 May 2025 for the commencement of trial.
Earlier, state counsel, Ms Bukola Okeowo told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offence with another (still at large) on 15 August 2023 at about 11.00 p.m. in Ibeju-Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos.
Okeowo alleged the defendant with one Franklin Immana (still at large( conspired and raped the hapless woman.
The prosecutor also alleged the defendant stood by and watched Immana have unlawful sexual intercourse with the woman, without her consent.
The prosecution further submitted that the defendant harassed the alleged survivor by fondling her breast and stripping her naked without her consent
According to the prosecution, the alleged offences contravene sections 211, 260, 261, 264 and 173 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
