OPERATIVES of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a middle-aged man for allegedly attacking his wife, Sholola Mutiat, by pouring hot oil on her and stabbing her during an argument.
According to Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, there was an altercation between Sholola Mutiat and her husband, Sholola Kazeem which occurred around 12:20 p.m. in the Ring Road area of Owode, located in the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.
“The Divisional Police Officer in Owode Egba division has promptly intervened in a case involving gender-based violence and assault against a housewife, leading to the arrest of her husband for causing various injuries to her,” Odutola stated.
She further explained, “On 18 January 2025, at about 12:20hrs, the Divisional Police Officer received a report from members of the Ring Road community regarding an incident involving Sholola Kazeem, a male resident, and his wife, Sholola Mutiat, who resided at the same address.
“It was reported that Sholola Kazeem, in a fit of anger over a misunderstanding, poured hot oil over his wife’s body and also stabbed her in the head.”
The victim was rushed to Ore Ofé Hospital for medical attention, while police officers examined the scene of the crime.
“The suspect has been apprehended and is currently under investigation,” Odutola added.
This incident has sparked concern over the rising cases of domestic violence in the region.
