THE abducted factional National President of the Afenifere Youth Council, Eniola Ojajuni has regained freedom after eleven days in the kidnappers’ den.
Confirming the development, the National Secretary of Afenifere National Youth Council, Abiodun Aderohunmu in a terse statement, said, “Yes, he has been released”. He however refused to be drawn into a discussion of ransom payment.
Eighteen-Eleven Media reports that the abductors of Mr Ojajuni had on Tuesday given him 24 hours to raise One Hundred Million Naira (N100,000,000.00) ransom demanded or risk being killed.
In the distressing videos which circulated on social media, Ojajuni was seen sitting on the ground, with a gunman pointing an AK-47 rifle at him. The kidnapped leader, visibly distressed, called on Nigerians, particularly those from the Ilaje area of Ondo State, to help raise the ransom demanded by his captors.
Ojajuni revealed that he had been given a 24-hour deadline, with his captors threatening to kill him if the ransom was not paid within that time frame.
“Nigerians, please help me! Your donation, N100,000, N50,000, or N1,000,000, will go a long way to save my life. My name is Prince Eniola Ojajuni. God bless you. Aderohunmu, please help me spread this video,” he said.
His abduction was first announced by Abiodun Aderohunmu, He said Ojajuni was kidnapped on 17 February 2025, in Abuja and sustained a gunshot wound to his buttock.
“The Afenifere National Youths Council is deeply saddened to announce the kidnapping of its National President, Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, in Abuja, Nigeria,” Aderohunmu said.
He added that the kidnappers have demanded N100 million for Ojajuni’s release.
