THE Ogun State government has taken custody of a four-year-old boy who was physically abused by his father in Igboko, Ado-Odo-Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The disturbing case was brought to light in a viral video posted by human rights activist, Adetoun Onajobi (popularly known as JustAdetoun) on Saturday, revealing severe bruises on the four-year-old boy’s back, stomach, and head, and called on the Ogun State government to take action.
Reacting, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, in a statement made available to journalists in Abeokuta, stated that her ministry had taken decisive action to rescue the victim and ensure that the perpetrator faces the full weight of the law.
The commissioner noted that the child had since been placed under the protective custody of the ministry, where he was receiving comprehensive medical care and emotional support.
She assured the public that justice would be served, and confirmed that the alleged perpetrator was currently in police custody and all necessary legal arrangements were underway.
