The Ondo State Police Command has debunked reports of a midnight terrorist attack on the Okuta Elerinla Police Division of the Command in Akure.
In a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Funmi Odunlami, the attack, which was carried out by some hoodlums, was repelled by policemen on duty which made them unable to gain entry into the station.
Odunlami however added that during the crossfire, one of the station’s guards, Inspector Temenu Boluwaji was hit by a bullet, but later died on his way to the hospital.
Meanwhile, The Commissioner of Police CP Oyeyemi Adesoye Oyediran has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case and ensure the perpetrators are arrested.
Eighteen-Eleven Media gathered that the Police boss urges residents of the state to go about their lawful duty without fear, assuring that the criminals will be apprehended.
