But for divine providence, an Osun State-based businesswoman, Mrs Falilat Oyetunji, (a.k.a Ero- Arike) family would by now been busy negotiating the ransom to be paid to secure the release of their daughter from her abductors, even as her fate will be hanging on the balance.
All the three conspirators connected to the alleged wicked intention were arrested except for the driver of the getaway vehicle.
Disclosing how the plan was hatched and the perpetrators arrested, the Osun State Police Command’s Police Public Relations Relations (PPRO), SP Opalola Yemisi Olawoyin, stated that, an impeccable source walked up to the woman on 6 August 2022 and informed her of the clandestine moves by the suspects to kidnap her at her residence in Olorunda Temidire area of Iragbiji.
The source, according to the release, went further to name the gang’s leader as Basiru, a former employee of the woman’s Ero Arike Company.
Armed with this vital information, the woman-target lodged a complaint to the police and the command’s Anti-kidnapping Squad was detailed for the assignment and surveillance was emplaced.
“The informant was directed to play along with the kidnappers. Today, while consummating their plan, men of the Anti- kidnapping squad swung into action and nabbed the three suspects, while their driver disappeared with the vehicle they brought for the operation”, the PPRO said.
Two Dane guns, a long knife and a Jackknife were recovered from them.
The said gang leader, Bashiru, was said to have pierced his stomach with the Jackknife but was rescued by the policemen, who quickly rushed him to the Osun State Teaching Hospital Osogbo for treatment.
“Meanwhile, investigation is ongoing” the statement concluded.
