Two members of a terrorist group on Sunday, 4th September 2022, met their waterloo in Katsina State during a fierce gun duel with police operatives.
The AK-47-wielding hoodlums, numbering eleven, had stormed the residence of one Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi Tafashiya (60) in the Kankia Local Government Area of the state on motorcycles.
Having succeeded in the abduction and whisking away of the victim, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kankia Police Station, on receipt of the report at about 0230hrs, led a team of tactical operatives, blocked the terrorists at Juga Village, during which exchange of gunfire ensued.
According to the Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Gambo Isah in a press release, the hoodlums were repelled while the abducted victim was rescued unhurt.
Gambo stated, “In the course of scanning the scene, two terrorists were neutralized”, adding that one of the hoodlums’ operational motorcycles was recovered.
He said investigation was ongoing.
In another development, according to the police spokesman, an alleged notorious Indian hemp dealer, based on credible intelligence, was intercepted with 185 parcels of the substance.
The male suspect, 58-year-old Abdulrazak Ajibade, from Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State, was accosted on 4th September at about 4:00 pm, in a maroon colour station wagon Volkswagen car, marked JBY 311 AA on Katsina- Dutsinma Road.
“In the course of investigation, 185 neatly sealed parcels of dried leaves, reasonably suspected to be Indian Hemp were recovered inside the vehicle during police search”, the PPRO said.
According to him, the suspect had confessed to committing the crime and was assisting the police in their Investigations.
