A couple identified as Mr and Mrs George Orabel has reportedly died of an explosion resulting from an inverter battery in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.
According to a report, the couple died, leaving a three-year-old son behind. Their son was said to be in the care of his grandmother when the incident happened, leading to his exception.
However, an Instagram blogger, Cutie Juls, while announcing the fatal accident attributed the cause to a gas explosion that happened at their home.
The entertainment gossip blogger reported that Chioma, the wife, passed away immediately after the gas explosion, while her husband initially survived, but sadly died yesterday on 11 September 2024.
Cutie juls wrote:
“Remember when I posted last week or so that Patoranking’s sister passed away in a gas explosion incident in their home and the husband and the child were battling for their lives. The husband also couldn’t make it, he just passed away. Patoranking tried so much, buying tons of blood to help save his brother-in-law’s life so at least his nephew wouldn’t be born an orphan. Remember, he loves his sister so, so much. Please, his friends should check up on him”.
“May their souls rest in peace 🙏”
Giving a slightly different angle to the story, a neighbour who identified himself as Nwokporo Victor Uchechukwu, said:
“It happened in my street. We only heard sound of explosion in the afternoon of Sunday 25th August.. When we rushed to the compound, smoke was coming out of the new building with all the electronics spoiled including the ceiling, doors and windows damaged with glasses. At first we thought it was gas cylinder explosion. No be any inverter, Na only God knows what was implanted in that house. It sounded like bomb.”
Chioma, the deceased young lady, it was gathered, was a younger sister to the popular Nigerian Afrobeat singer, Patoranking, although this could not be confirmed as of press time.
