GINGER Onwusibe, a freshly elected representative for the Labour Party of Nigeria from the Abia State, has reportedly been kidnapped by gunmen in Abuja believed to be Department of State Service (DSS) agents.
His kidnapping was confirmed in a Facebook post by Ubani Danni, a former ally of Okezie Ikpeazu, the governor of Abia State.
Ubani claims that while he was leaving the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) headquarters, where he had earlier gathered with his coworkers to get certificates of return, hooded men who he believed to be DSS agents stopped him and took him away.
Ubani stated, “The government of Abia State has ordered the arrest of Hon. Ginger Onwusibe by hooded individuals thought to be DSS agents.
“Ginger Onwusibe, whose only sin is his advocacy for good governance, was waylaid and whisked away as he was making his way out of INEC office, where he had earlier joined his colleagues, the newly elected members of the Federal House of Representatives.
“This is one of the many illegal strategies of this thieving shameless Abia State government to psychologically intimidate supporters of the Labour Party and to keep Ginger Onwusibe out of circulation in order for them to rig the gubernatorial election.
“By this information, all lovers of freedom and good governance are employed to join the crusade #FreeGingerNow”
