IN line with his campaign promise to expand quality health coverage to the people of Osun State, and to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal among the vulnerable people of the state, the governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has approved the commencement of the second edition of Imole Free Surgical and Medical Outreach that will hold in two centres of each of the three senatorial districts of Osun State.
Each edition of the Imole Surgical and Medical Outreach will benefit over two thousand five hundred 2,500 persons in each centre of the three senatorial districts every week where the exercise will be taking place for two days.
The programme, which will be coordinated by the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, will be held in state hospitals in Ilesa, Ila-Orangun, Ile-Ife, Iwo, Ede and Osogbo on the chosen dates.
Surgeries covered by the free medical outreach include Cataracts, Pterygium, Hernia, Hydrocele, Lipoma, Keloids and some swollen body parts.
Medical conditions like Hypertension, Diabetes, Malaria, Cough, Tuberculosis and other diseases will also be treated by a team of medical practitioners assembled by the state government to make the programme a huge success.
The governor is expected to flag off the medical outreach on Wednesday, 16 August, 2023 in Ilesha while other constituencies will follow immediately.
The schedule across the senatorial districts is as follows:
- Ilesha (flag off and care) – August 16 and 17
- Ila Orangun – August 23 and 24
- Iwo – August 30 and 31
- Ile Ife – September 6 and 7
- Ede – September 13 and 14
- Osogbo – September 20 and 21.
