THE Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced that Afam Osigwe, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), is its newly elected president.
In the 2024 NBA election, conducted online and monitored closely, Osigwe, who previously served as the Secretary-General of the NBA, received the highest number of votes for the presidential position.
Additionally, Mrs. Bridget Edokwe was elected as the association’s Publicity Secretary.
The voting process commenced at midnight on Saturday and concluded at 1:59 p.m., with live results for all positions available in real-time at https://go.ecnba.org/results/.
By 2 a.m. on Sunday, Osigwe had garnered 20,395 votes, surpassing his closest contender, Tobenna Erojikwe, chairman of the NBA Institute of Continuing Legal Education Governing Council, who received 10,970 votes. Chukwuka Ikwuazom (SAN), the former chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, secured 9,007 votes.
Osigwe will take over from the outgoing NBA president, Yakubu Maikyau (SAN).
