SUPER Eagles assistant captain Williams Troost-Ekong has said the duo of Alex Iwobi and Leon Balogun persuaded him to rescind his decision to quit the team.

Speaking with Cable Network News (CNN), Troost-Ekong who emerged as the Most Valuable Player in the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Cote d’Ivoire said: “I had already decided to quit the Super Eagles, but Alex Iwobi convinced me to come back.

“I spoke with some of the players I have been with in the national team for a long time, such as Alex Iwobi and Leon Balogun.

“They all expressed that they believed it would be a loss if I left and that they thought I still had much to offer.

” This made me reflect on my younger self when I first joined the team, giving my younger self a better ending. So, that’s what changed my mind in the end.”
