MANCHESTER UNITED will announce the outcome of their investigation into Mason Greenwood within the next two weeks.
United have spent almost six months mulling over Greenwood’s future and, as reported last month, the club will communicate the outcome of their findings before their first Premier League game of the season against Wolves on 14 August.
Greater Manchester Police announced on 2 February that Greenwood “no longer faces criminal proceedings”. Greenwood, 21, had been charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.
The Crown Prosecution Service dropped all charges against Greenwood and United have been conducting their own process as they “determine the next steps”.
Greenwood is contracted to United until 2025, with the option of an additional year, and he last played for the club in the 1-0 win against West Ham on 22 January 2022.
The forward has not returned to United’s Carrington training complex since the charges were dropped almost five months ago. In recent photographs, he was pictured training privately.
Greenwood has played 129 times for United and scored 35 goals. He made his England debut against Iceland in September 2020.
