THE Anambra State government, through the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare, has handed a couple and an accomplice to the police for alleged human trafficking in Ifitedunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area of the state.

The couple, identified as Temple and Ndubuisi Nwankwo, were arrested by the police alongside one  Ebere while attempting to sell their baby girl for One Million Naira (N1,000,000.00) only

It was gathered that the couple was suspected to have sold their other two children whom they claimed had died.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the media aide to the Women Affairs Commissioner, Chidinma Ikeanyionwu, the government said the arrests followed a detailed investigation by the community chairman, Mr Arinzechukwu Azodo, who notified the Women Affairs Commissioner, Ify Obinabo.

Some members of the community alleged that Temple is into the trafficking business with her husband, Ndubuisi Nwankwo, as an accomplice because they have not seen some of her children for a very long time.

Meanwhile, when the couple was asked the whereabouts of their other two kids, they claimed that they were dead without providing any tangible explanation as to the circumstances of their deaths.
