OPERATIVES of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested 37-year-old Anthony Kosisochukwu Okafor accused of killing his 45-year-old elder brother, Emmanuel Okafor, over a dispute regarding foodstuffs in Adegbe village, Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu, Kosisochukwu was arrested by operatives from the Abagana Police Divisional Headquarters and AVG on 7th February 2025 at 7 pm.
Ikenga reported that Kosisochukwu has confessed to the crime, emphasizing the need to tackle domestic violence.
“The suspect admitted to engaging the victim in a physical altercation following a heated argument about the foodstuffs in their home. Kosisochukwu reportedly used a stick to pierce Emmanuel’s chest. The victim was quickly taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
“This incident is alarmingly distressing and highlights the urgent need to address domestic violence and conflicts within families. It also underscores the necessity of managing disputes and emotions healthily and constructively to prevent irreparable consequences.
“The case has been transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department in Awka and will be taken to court upon the completion of the investigation.”
