THE All Progressives Congress (APC), has summoned an emergency meeting of all governors elected under its platform.

The meeting will be held at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja later today at 2.00 pm.

This is contained in a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on behalf of the National Chairman.

The statement read: “The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), His Excellency, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, invites state governors of the party to an emergency meeting to be held on Sunday, 19 February 2023 by 2 pm at the National Secretariat, Abuja.

The meeting may not be unconnected with the ongoing Naira crisis in the country where the governors have gone on confrontation with President Muhammadu Buhari over his controversial Naira redesign policy that is impoverishing the masses and casting the party in a bad light of the public.

Ten governors of the APC had dragged the Federal Government and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to the Supreme Court to stop them from withdrawing the old ₦200, ₦500 and ₦1000 notes from circulation.

The apex court granted a restraining order, stopping the federal government, from enforcing the 10th February deadline for the submission of the old notes.

But Buhari, in a nationwide address on Thursday trampled the Supreme Court underfoot and announced that only the ₦200 notes should be returned to circulation till 10th April in flagrant disregard to the position of the Supreme Court.

It is believed that today’s meeting may be conveyed to make the hardline governors shift ground and probably withdraw the case against the federal government at the apex court.

It is not certain if the governors will dance to the tune of Senator Adamu as Buhari’s controversial Naira redesign policy is believed to be demarketing the APC candidates.
