The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has warned that attempts at intimidating its presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Prince Adebayo, would fail.
SDP Campaign Council Director-General, Barrister Solomon Dalung handed out the warning at a world press briefing held in Abuja earlier today Friday 25 November 2022.
He lamented that the functionaries of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are generating documents as well as trying to use the police to intimidate the SDP presidential candidate through fake records of alleged criminal issues.
Barrister Dalung further warned that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) should not, in its desperation, truncate this transition.
He, therefore, urged Nigerians to elect credible candidates in 2023, stressing that the SDP boasts of such, that can bring back prosperity to the country.
Speaking further, Dalung expressed reservations over some of the issues that are plaguing campaigns ahead of the 2023 polls.
“It calls to question the violent level that characterised the campaigns,” he added.
He decried the flagrant use of government paraphernalia for campaigns by APC candidates, therefore, narrowing the space for other contenders.
Dalung said that the use of government aircraft for campaign by the APC presidential candidate is an abuse of power, adding that if such assets are provided for one candidate, the same treatment should be accorded to others.
Dalung charged presidential candidates of all political parties to embrace issue-based campaigns, focusing on issues like security, poverty and those that are not in power should tell Nigerians what they will do.
On the SDP campaign trend, he explained that the party has been moving from one place to another, responsibly canvassing for votes.
