THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Ahmad Aliyu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of last Saturday’s governorship election in Sokoto State.
Aliyu was declared the winner having satisfied the provisions of the law.
He polled 453,661 votes to defeat the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Saidu Umar, who scored 404,632 votes.
Umar is the candidate of Governor Aminu Tambuwal of the PDP. With the victory, APC has claimed Sokoto State.
Aliyu was a former deputy governor of Sokoto State and the immediate past Secretary of the Police Trust Fund.
