RESIDENTS of Obafemi Awolowo Hall of the University of Ibadan were in the early hours of Saturday subjected to harrowing experiences as dare-devil armed robbers raided the hall dispossessing the students of their valuables.
Eyewitness account says items carted away included mobile phones, jewellery, and clothing, among other valuables.
One of the affected students, who spoke anonymously, said that beyond losing their possessions, some students were subjected to physical assault during the raid which lasted for several hours.
Another source disclosed that security personnel were alerted by the victims’ distress calls and that their response led to the apprehension of a number of suspects who were later handed over to officers at the Sango Police Station.
Confirming the unfortunate development, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Joke Akinpelu, said reports from Hall Wardens indicated that students’ mobile phones were taken by the night marauders.
