THE National Working Committee (NWC) of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed indefinitely the Party’s National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings originally scheduled for the 18th and 19th July 2023, Prime Business Africa (PBA) exclusively reports.
This piece of information emerged from the ongoing National Working Committee (NWC) meeting of the party presided over by the newly appointed Acting National Chairman, Sen. Abubakar Kyari
Kyari’s emergence as Acting National Chairman on Monday followed the resignation of former APC Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, on Sunday night.
The National Secretary of the Party, Iyiola Omisore, less than 24 hours after, followed Senator Adamu’s path by stepping down for the Deputy National Secretary, Festus Fuanter, to emerge as Acting Secretary.
Reasons for the indefinite postponement of the Caucus and NEC meetings remain uncertain as the NWC was still meeting in Abuja at the time of filing the report. But the APC has been in the news since Sunday night following Adamu’s resignation as first exclusively reported by PBA.
The 18th and 19th July meeting were originally scheduled to hold last week but was later moved to this week by the former chairman who some NWC members said did not have an agenda for the meeting. There were also other issues bordering on the transparency of the Party’s 2022 Audit report.
Meanwhile, erstwhile National Secretary of the Party, Iyiola Omisore was denied entry into the venue of the ongoing National Working Committee (NWC) meeting of the party taking place at the party’s National Secretariat, popularly known as Buhari House in Abuja.
The party’s scribe had arrived at the secretariat around 11:20 am to join other NWC members in the meeting but was denied entry.
This comes after the Deputy National Chairman (North), Senator Abubakar Kyari, took over the meeting following the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
Speaking with reporters, Omisore said he left the secretariat as soon as he came in when he met the absence of the party’s national chairman at the meeting.
The APC chieftain said he was going to meet Adamu at his residence, adding that he did not know why the former Nasarawa governor was not at the secretariat.
